Valentines Walk

February 12, 2023

Our Valentines Day walk will be to one of Dorset’s best views, in the Purbecks, including a stop off for refreshments at the Scott Arms in Kingston.

From Kingston on Purbeck which is about 35 minutes from Poole. The walk will include stunning coastal views.

Walk Details

Start: The Swyre Head car park – BH20 5LP
Distance: Total distance about 5 miles
Terrain: easy – almost flat – almost entirely off road so good shoes/boots are necessary

Start & Finish at the Swyre Head car park – gather at 09.45 for a prompt 10.00 start

Parking: Free in the car park (BH20 5LP) – this has limited space & fills up quickly so it’s advisable to get there for 09.30. There is an alternative car park (on West Street BH20 5LL) back towards Kingston but this adds a 20 minute extra walk.
Refreshments: afterwards at the excellent Scott Arms at Kingston (BH20 5LH)
*PLEASE SEE BELOW PUB IS DOG FRIENDLY
Highlights: The superb views from the viewpoint at Swyre Head which is the highest point of the Purbeck hills and gives a far reaching panorama from Dartmoor to the Isle of Wight.
The view across Weymouth Bay from Heavens’ Gate is stunning.
The Kingston parish church of St. James – Grade 1 listed building – designed by the same architect who designed the Royal Courts of Justice. William Morris was his apprentice!

Please Note: The pub is happy to entertain our group BUT REQUIRE persons to choose food beforehand (this does not apply to drinks).

ALL ARE WELCOME –
walk is open to all PYC members
