SUMMARY:RYA First Aid Course (2 x Evening Sessions)
DESCRIPTION:This is full first aid course that we will cover over two evenings (Mondays) and will cover all the basics from a boating perspective. \nIt is aimed at anyone who goes afloat but as it is an MCA approved course it does meet the requirements for Coastal Skipper\, Yachtmaster\, Advanced Powerboat and any RYA Instructor tickets requiring a first aid certificate. \nAlong with the basics\, this course will include:\nRecovery Position in confined spaces\nCPR including drowning protocol\nCold Shock and Hypothermia\nSeasickness\, Dehydration and Heat Exhaustion\nVHF medical assistance and helicopter rescue \n\n\n\nInstructions\n\nThis course is classroom based and we shall not go on the water.\nAs it is a First Aid course\, there will be photos and descriptions of injuries and illness\, if this is going to be an issue please discuss with your instructor before the course starts. \nYou must attend both evenings to complete the course. \nThere are currently 8 spaces available until Wed 6 Mar ’24 6:30pm \nTo book this course click HERE

DESCRIPTION:Robert Heaton will be giving us a very interesting talk on the Maritime and Archaeological History of Poole Harbour\, the coastline area of Dorset and the wider area surrounding us. \nRobert from Poole Maritime Trust and East Dorset Antiquarian Society is a local Surveyor heavily involved in research projects on land and sea across Dorset. New technology is bringing opportunity and discoveries\, where we can build on our understanding of Poole’s extraordinary rich and fascinating past. Remotely operated vehicles and drones bring footage and help provide a new perspective for you to enjoy. \nThere is a strong connection between members of our club and former projects that have paved the way for some new exciting discoveries and undoubtedly more to come in the years ahead. \nArchaeological work on sites in Dorset add so much to this story across many thousands of years. DESCRIPTION:A Purbeck Experience  with a visit to Tyneham ghost village. \nMeet at Whiteways car park (free) \n10.00 hrs \nThis walk should be 2.5 hrs with time to explore the village. \nDirections to Whiteway Car Park.   A351  Wareham to Corfe Castle road .  Turn right at Stoborough junction signposted  CREECH\, STEEPLE\, KIMMERIDGE.  After ascending to STEEPLE proceed straight ahead  towards Lulworth and Tyneham.  IGNORE left turn to Thyneham and continue ahead to the Whiteway Car Park on the hilltop\, see sign marked car park on the left.  \nNice lunch available at Wareham Golf Club afterwards. \nRoast Beef/Pork  with Veggie option at £11.00 per head. \nPlease Book this walk\, and lunch\, HERE
