SUMMARY:RYA Radar Course
DESCRIPTION:The RYA Radar course is suitable for leisure boaters and those working on the water. \nFor those looking to take Yachtmaster exams or who have a radar on board this is essential training. If you have radar on board then it is a requirement under the IRPCS (International Regulation for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea) that you know how to use it. \nIts a one day course and you will look at how radar sets work\, how to use the different adjustments and the implications\, radar reflectors\, plotting and how to use the radar for navigation and collision avoidance. SUMMARY:Lifejacket Clinic and Boat Check
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 20th April 2024 we are hosting a Lifejacket & Boat Safety Check Day. Our RNLI Lifejacket Clinic on the day will be in the Academy Room\, by the Haven Office. \nLife Jacket Checks – The aim is to make you more confident in looking after your life jacket. Come any time between 09.00 & 15.00 \n\n\n\nA life jacket is a vital piece of lifesaving equipment for those taking part in water based activities. ‘It can be easy to assume lifejackets are always up to the job\, but like all safety equipment they need to be regularly checked. Someone’s life could depend on it. \n\n\n\nAs part of the lifejacket check the RNLI members will teach the jacket’s owner how to undertake their own checks in future. \n\n\n\nThis side of the event will operate on a come along when you want to basis. Also; Book with us for on board advice from trained experts from the RNLI and get free confidential safety advice on your personal boat. \n\n\n\nThe Boat Safety Advice Checks on your boat are limited – \n\n\n\nMUST be booked in advance as there are only a small number of slots available – each boat check takes about 1 hour – please book BELOW \n\n\n\nOnce registered we will allocate a slot to you\, you should keep the day clear so we can adjust timings to work with our RNLI collegues. \n\n\n\nMorning Slots will be: \n\n\n\n09.00; 10.00; 11.00. 12.00 \n13.00 Lunch Hour \n\n\n\nAfternoon Slots will be: \n\n\n\n14.00; 15.00 – ending at 16.00. \nThis is a day you will not want to miss as it’s free and full of safety advice from the professionals. \n\n\n\nPYCCS & RNLI Boat Safety Check Booking Form 2023 Click HERE \n\n\n\nWe will allow for 2 reserve bookings in case someone doesn’t turn up. \n\n\n\nNo cost but donations to RNLI welcome. \n\n\n\n
